Brandy Never Wants To Get Married And That’s Okay

Brandy Dropped A Couple Of Bombs
Earlier this week, recording artist Brandy appeared on The Real daytime talk show and dropped a couple of bombs. During the popular Girl Chat segment, Brandy revealed she never wants to get married and she doesn’t date.  Take a look and we will talk after…

Must Every Woman Want To Be Married?
As I watched the segment, I found it interesting when Jeannie Mai tried to convince Brandy that her feelings about never getting married are temporary.  That’s usually the response when a woman says she never wants to marry.  Why is it so hard to believe a woman when she says she never wants to get married? Must every woman want to be married? Is something wrong with Brandy and other women who never want to get married?

It’s All About You When You’re Single
I do agree with Jeannie’s reply to Brandy when she said she’s all about her career right now.  Every woman should enjoy that period/that moment if they can before they get married.  It’s important to do the things that are important to you before you marry.  It’s important to have that time to explore your curiosities and take advantage of opportunities before you marry.  Not saying it can’t be done when you marry but I can certainly tell you it’s easier to do while you’re single.  It’s all about you when you’re single. A married woman once told me she envied me.  She said, “Chase, you can move anywhere in the world tomorrow if you wanted to.  I can’t!  You’re single.” I am and I could and I have.  I have definitely taken advantage of my single status and you should too.

Love Hasn’t Worked Out For Her
Brandy swearing off marriage doesn’t come as a surprise to me I mean her recent engagement to Ryan Press was called off.  Before that,  she pretended to be married to her daughter’s father Rober Smith and prior to that her engagement to Quentin Richardson was called off. Perhaps she’s given up because she’s disappointed.  Love hasn’t worked out for her.

Help Me Heal Me
Back in 2014 while a guest on The Daily Helpline, she wanted to get married.  She was on a quest to find out how to make relationships work because she wanted to get to the next level.  Here’s what she said, “I have a deep question for you guys. I’ve been in relationships before. I’ve been the heartbreaker; I have had my heart broken to pieces.  But I just want to know the secret of making it work, because time is ticking. I’m 35 and I’m trying to one day get to the next level. The next level! You know? Like marriage one day? Help me heal me!”

Defeat And Disappointment
I see nothing wrong with Brandy never wanting to marry.  Marriage is not the be all end all for every woman.  I do hope Brandy came to this decision from a place of truth and not from a place of defeat and disappointment.  We never make the best decisions when we’re hurt.

Something to think about…

What say you? Do you believe Brandy when she says she never wants to get marry? Why is it so hard to believe a woman when she says she never wants to marry? Must every woman want to be married? Is something wrong with Brandy and other women who never want to marry? Is marriage for everyone?

I agree with your closing statement that so long as she came to this decision from a place of truth and not defeat then there’s nothing wrong with it. If it’s from a place of defeat she could be closing herself off from someone worthwhile and wonderful and preventing herself from finding true happiness. There’s definitely nothing wrong with focusing on yourself and/or career, it’s essential, and I hope she’s doing it because it’s the right thing for her and not out of fear. Great topic Yvonne! Hope you’re having a great start to your 2016! Take Care -Iva

@Iva,

I sincerely hope she didn’t arrive at this decision out of fear and or defeat and disappointment otherwise like you said, she could definitely be closing herself off from someone worthwhile and wonderful.
