Mike Pence Would Agree; Hearing From God Is The Key To A Great Single Life

by Yvonne Chase on March 12, 2018

Prays To God
Sometime last month on The View, Joy Behar took a jab at the mental health of Vice President Mike Pence who says he prays to God and waits to hear from him. Joy specifically said, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus, it’s another thing when Jesus talks to you…that’s called mental illness…hearing voices.” Watch the video below and we’ll talk after…

God Tells Her To Run
People magazine ran an interview with Oprah Winfrey and asked if she would consider a presidential run. Oprah says she will only consider it if God tells her to run. She says, “I went into prayer, ‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it. I haven’t gotten that (so far).” Will Oprah’s mental health be questioned because she’s waiting to hear from God? Somehow I don’t think so.

Pray And Wait
Like Pence, my Christian faith is the most important thing in my life. I do my best to start my day reading my Bible then I pray and wait to hear from God. Sometimes I talk to God audibly as if I’m talking to a close friend who’s sitting at the table with me. Other times I talk to him silently as I go about my day. God is constantly talking to me and dropping things in my spirit.

The Holy Spirit Is The Major Key
Hearing from God is the only reason I’m not in a messy marriage or divorced. It’s why I wrote the post, Speed Dating With The Holy Spirit. Here’s an excerpt:

The power of the Holy Spirit has served me well while speed dating, online dating, and dating overall. In the words of DJ Khaled, it’s the major key to my life. It’s the reason I don’t waste my time. It’s the reason I am able to walk up on a situation and know what it is in no time flat.  It instructs me, it shows me and it leads me. The more I pay attention to it the more I’m in tune with it.  I listen to my gut because my gut connects to the Holy Spirit.

Exposed The Real Deal
One prayer I always pray when I meet a man of interest is this: God if he is not for me, remove him from my life immediately. I’ve met a shyster or two. It’s only the revealing power of the Holy Spirit that exposes the wolf in sheep clothing.

Something Just Ain’t Right
I’m reminded of a time when a pastor out of Atlanta approached me on Facebook. We exchanged quite a few IMs (instant messages) before taking our conversation offline. During those conversations, I got a feeling in my spirit that something just ain’t right with this dude.

Duped Daily
After further investigation, not only did I learn he wasn’t a pastor, I also learned he lied about the number of kids he has, the number of times he’d been married and the reason his last marriage ended. His entire life was a lie. His M-O was to find single Christian women online and impress her with his desire to do ministry with the woman God has for him. What a load of rubbish!

Navigate This Journey
Let me tell you something, I’d be a mess in my single and dating life without hearing from God so I understand Mike Pence fully when he says he prays then waits to hear. It’s the only way to live the Christian life. The more I listen, the easier it is to recognize his voice. I don’t know about you but I look forward to hearing his voice as I continue to navigate this journey. He’s always talking and I’m listening. Are you?

Something to think about…

Do you hear from God? What do you think about Joy’s comments regarding Pence hearing from God? What role does the Holy Spirit play in your life? How has the Holy Spirit helped you in your single life?

I don’t share my politics on line as I feel it is too easy to bash one another hidden in anonymity. It’s all propaganda. We have become a culture that is divided instead of united and regardless of what our beliefs are we must find the way to connect ourselves if we are ever to come together. We really have no way of knowing who or in which media God speaks to anyone. I find it difficult to stay awake and mindful enough to understand what He might be pointing out to me, let alone what any one else is hearing. I will say that when I hear the words “mental illness” being used to describe a person the first thing I want to check is some credentials. Unless the speaker is a licensed psychiatrist or cares deeply for the subject their words mean nothing and are often being used for their own ends.

Hi, Yvonne, yes, I hear from God. He speaks to me through His Word, through Holy Spirit and sometimes through other people as they confirm what He’s already given me.
I was sorry to hear that excerpt from The View. Though Joy isn’t a licensed in the mental health field, that show does have a far reach, unfortunately. We can only pray that God will close the ears of those whom He is drawing to Himself and that this excerpt doesn’t influence their choice to follow Him.
However, God is still on the throne and He reigns supreme over all. Though man may not obey Him, as long as believers obey Him, we’ll be in His will.
Stopped by from Trekking Thru.

Hi Yvonne, When I saw Joy Behar say this all I could think is… Why would we talk to God if we didn’t expect Him to talk to us. This is such a fundamental part of our Christian faith. We have a loving Father who wants to speak to us and with us. How amazing is that? Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important topic. I pray that every one will hear from God today! Many blessings to you!
