Be Still…and Know…

Be still and know that I am God…Psalm 46:10

I usually write posts geared to single women however, today’s post takes on a different tune.  As I live daily and observe this thing called life, I notice a lot of busyness that’s oftentimes fueled by the need to paint a picture of ourselves that’s sometimes inaccurate.  Somehow we’ve been duped into thinking that the busier we are the more productive we are.  This is not always true.

We seem to live in a world that’s consumed with efforting (I know its not a word…work w/me), being busy and constantly doing. If you hang out on Twitter long enough, your time line will read; make it happen, stay on your grustle; grind + hustle, get up and get your grind on, grinding, can’t stop won’t stop, winning, sleep is for suckers etc. We’re consumed with messages that tell us we need to do more, be more, get more and we’ve forgotten that we are human beings not human doings.

There’s power in stillness.  You don’t have to always be doing something.  While you be still and know, God is behind the scenes moving things around, moving people around and settings things up all with the perfect plan he has in mind for your life.  His plan for you is better than anything you could ever dream or imagine. Now am I suggesting you sit around in a constant state of nothingness? Absolutely not!

Do what you can.  Act on ideas that pop into your head.  Do the research.  Make the phone calls.  Show up for the meeting and then remember to be still.  Make time for stillness. Use that time to relax, release, reevaluate and rejuvenate. Listen to God.  Watch the signs.  Life is always showing us and teaching us.  We will miss the lessons if we’re caught up in a constant state of busyness.

I know a gang of people who literally run around all day from pillar to post chasing their tails and at the end of it all, they’ve accomplished nothing.  They would’ve been much better off being still and listening.  There is value in stillness.  Don’t let the voice of others force you into a way of being that doesn’t serve you well.

As I think about it deeper, this post definitely applies to singles.  God knows the person perfectly suited for you.  He knows the key that fits your lock.  At the perfect time when both of you are prepared and ready, he will orchestrate a meeting and it won’t be a minute sooner or later.  It will happen at the right time.

The same is true for life.  When you are prepared and ready to receive, the opportunity you’ve been chasing and trying with all your might to make happen will effortlessly appear.  Something mind blowing will show up for you; I promise.

Something to think about!

Amen en thank you so much. I also needed to hear that. Of let I have been thinking about this saying from God. Be still and know that I am God. I know my God is able en will fullfill his plans for me. I trust in the Lord no matter what my situation maybe right now. I believe he will change it for me en I will forever glorify him.
