Why Are They Kissing…They Don’t Even Know Each Other

kissingWhy Are They Kissing?
That’s what I said while watching the latest episode of The Bachelor.  I hadn’t watched this show in a coons age but decided to in a fit of boredom.  In this particular episode, one of the scheming gals had a one-on-one date with Juan Pablo; this seasons Bachelor.  They went for a ride in the ocean and afterwards dived in for a swim.  At the end of the swim, their tongues locked in a passionate kiss.

Inappropriate Romance
After the date, they went back to his place to cook.  Candles were lit and a warm fire was burning in the background.  The atmosphere was set for inappropriate romance.  I say inappropriate because they don’t know each other.  Too much too soon.  There will be lots of time for romance later or not depending on the outcome of getting to know you.

Cooking Is Intimate
Because he cooked for her and set the stage for intimacy, she felt pressured to engage him physically which is why I never accept a man’s offer to cook for me especially if we just met.  Cooking is intimate especially at his place.  What am I going to do afterwards; say thank you, goodnight and goodbye? Yes but it wouldn’t be what he expects and it would create a very awkward moment.

That’s Why He Invited You To His Place
Most men want a lot more than a goodbye and a goodnight after whipping up dinner and dining by candlelight.  That’s why he invited you to his place! He wants to settle in on the couch with a glass of wine, touch, hold hands and kiss just like this Bachelor dude did with his date.  I could tell how uncomfortable she was with it all yet she went along with it because its what he expected plus she wanted the rose at the end of the date.

Get To Know Each Other First
How about we get to know each other first?  How about we stop putting each other in awkward situations?  No cooking.  No intimacy.  No romance.  No candlelit dinners and no fires burning until we’re sure we want to do those things with each other.  Let’s put first things first and get to know each other in the most casual way first.  A light lunch at a cafe, a coffee/tea date and very little money spent.  Let’s focus on really getting to know each other before really getting to know each other.  Remember, there’ a time and place for everything! How does that sound to you?

If you kiss on the first date and it’s not right, then there will be no second date. Sometimes it’s better to hold out and not kiss for a long time.  I am a strong believer in kissing is very intimate, and the minute you kiss, the floodgates open for everything else.–Jennifer Lopez

Something to think about…
